INCJ, Ltd. was established in September 2018 via company split from Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), which was founded based on the similar framework of the Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act. A revision of the Act was enforced in September 2018, after which this company took over the business of INCJ in line with the conditions of a company split approved by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). It is managed under the similar framework as the original Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act. Accordingly, INCJ, Ltd., still requires that businesses targeted for investment be profitable, innovative, and address a social need. INCJ, Ltd.'s primary role will be in "Value Up" activities such as overseeing additional investments and milestone investments in portfolio companies. The company will also be responsible for activities related to exits from investments.

These investment activities are conducted in accordance with a clearly defined investment strategy aimed at fulfilling the mission to increase national wealth for future generations through open innovation across industries and organizations. INCJ's investment activities involve the following four processes.
